Edgewater Neighborhood Addition Steps Up the Diner Experience by @moonjuicecub

You may know the name Nookies as a place to get a classic American breakfast anytime, or late night comfort food after an all night excursion on the town with friends.  The popular restaurant chain located in Lakeview and Lincoln Park and Old Town has just added a new location on the North Side in Edgewater.

Nookies has branded itself as Casual Dining, yet the new location veers somewhat away from that by adding many elements of elegant fine dining.  Fancy Italian crafted chairs, lamps, finely finished wood floors a full bar and large windows looking out onto Bryn Mawr and Winthrop make it more of a place you could bring a business client rather than your friends after a long night of binge partying.

The expanded menu is classic American food.  It contains a large selection of breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, and desert items.  I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu which was prepared with herbs and spices making its presentation and taste more than I ever expected from a restaurant I had understood as more of a diner.

The waitstaff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the restaurant offered fast service even on a busy Friday night.  The items were priced relatively moderate with an entree averaging $8-10.  I would definitely recommend Nookies to someone looking for more of a fine dining experience in Edgewater.
