In this edition of the process, Lashanda Carter the Outreach Coordination for the National Runaway Switchboard talks about bringing awareness to the organization, providing crisis intervention through their hotline and online chat room, the amount of calls they receive (over 100,000 a year) and their partnership with Greyhound bus lines to help runaway youth.
She also speaks about National Runaway Prevention Awareness Month to bring awareness to the public and educate the public with solutions to prevent youth runaways and homeless. “Numbers Tell the Story” is the name of this campaign this year. They are using social media to use Facebook or Twitter using the hash tag #numberstellthestory.
In conjunction with this they ask people to participate in Green Sock Day and take a photo of them in them post them to either Facebook or Twitter and tag @1800runaway.
