Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

By Kevin McLaughlin

So for the past couple of weeks there have been a lot of trailers for all the summer/fall movies. We’ve had a trailer for Jurassic World, Tomorrowland and Fantastic Four, but the one that I’m most excited to see is Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Here’s the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Now for those of you who don’t know comics that much allow me to explain what the heck is going on in the trailer. First off this is NOT Christian Bale’s Batman so erase that version of Batman from you mind right now. This version of Batman is more relatable to the comic books. Especially the Batsuit, it’s a really good homage to the suit in the 1986 Frank Miller written Dark Knight Returns.

This suit is 100 times more true to the comics then Chris Nolan’s armor look.

It also turns out that some of the movie plot is based on the  Dark Knight Returns. In the movies “universe” Batman has been around for sometime now and he’s “retired” it’s only after the events of Man of Steel, that Batman decides to come out of retirement and let Superman know that He (Superman) isn’t the only guy running (or flying) around the city with a fancy costume and a cape.

In the comic book it’s Superman, who is now working for the U.S Government, who tries to stop Batman because Batman has a little Army and he’s taking justice in his own hands. The final pages of the comic end in a superpower beat down that would make any superhero fight before this one look like a slap on the wrist.

“I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want you to remember…the one man who beat you.”

Now I for one can’t wait this movie to come out. It’ll be interesting to see how well Zack Snyder does this comic book movie “justice” His previous comic book/Graphic Novel include 300, Watchman and Man of Steel, all of which have gotten mixed reviews.
