This past weekend the iHeartRadio Music Awards took place. Some of the biggest names in music were there to perform, pick up awards, and give heartfelt speeches.
Amongst the winners, singer Justin Timberlake who picked up a big award for his song “Can’t Stop The Feeling”. The tune won Song of the Year and Timberlake was on hand to pick up his prize. While on stage, Timberlake gave a profound speech about inclusion, even calling himself a “sissy singer boy from Tennessee”. His words called for the importance of differences among us and embracing the characteristics that make each of us unique.
It’s been quite a year for Timberlake, who just two short weeks ago opened the Academy Awards with an on-your-feet performance. While he didn’t take home an Oscar this year, the first time nominee was just excited and honored to be at the show. “Can’t Stop the Feeling” was also nominated for a Golden Globe earlier in the year.
Timberlake wrote “Can’t Stop The Feeling” for the DreamWorks movie “Trolls” and the song even topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number one. While he hasn’t formally announced any new music projects yet, Timberlake has mentioned that he is continuously working on music.
In the meantime, I’ll be watching his Netflix special, “Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids”. The documentary is a backstage look at his most recent world tour, full of live performances and funny backstage antics. All in all, it’s been a pretty good start to 2017 for Timberlake and I have a feeling it’s only going to get better.
